Proper way to sell a gun

I was wondering if anyone knows the "proper" and (legal) way to sell a gun in the state of GA? Its a rifle (M4) so no handgun, and its from one friend to another. I just wasnt 100% sure the specifics that were required to transfer a gun like this. Any suggestions and wisdom would be appreciated! Thanks.

I would THINK, if the friend is in Georgia, you can just sell it FTF without any issues. However, I'm not a lawyer and I could be wrong. Unlikely, but could be.

As long as both reside in the said state you should be able to follow the normal ethic rules of selling (which is not to minor, not to known fellon, not to person who will give to known fellon, probably more im not mentioning) Georgia to the best of my knowledge does not require FOID card or registration or anything of the like so a private sale should be just fine, bringing a FFl dealer into the equation is just going to incur more fees that are unneccesary IMO.

My kid brother is an attorney in Atlanta. If you want, I can ask him to research it for you and he'll only charge you about $400-$500 an hour!

HA! $400-500 huh? Thats half of what im selling it for!!! Thanks for the info though, I thought that was pretty much the case but wasnt 100% sure. And if you ask a gun store employee, they're just going to come up with some "reason" that it should be done there so they can charge you for it! (or most of them at least) Thanks again, I appreciate it!

If you are unsure, go to a gun dealer and they should be able to tell you what you need to do, but they might charge you a fee. Otherwise, look at GA statutes since they should say what needs to be done.
