My daughter's very first shot - ever

OK, so my 39-year old daughter came to visit for Thanksgiving. I was trying to think of things to do, you know, father-daughter bonding kind of things. I suggested we go to my local range and fire off a few rounds from my Ruger .22. I was pleasantly surprised when she eagerly said yes!

She had never shot a gun before, not even a BB gun. So, before we went to the range, we spent a good deal of time at my house going over basic gun safety. When we got to the range, we again focused on safety. I had her dry fire the gun a few times, and set her into a basic stance with two-handed grip.

She seemed comfortable enough, so I loaded one round into the magazine and then chambered it. I carefully handed the gun to her and she gripped it well, then aimed carefully and squeezed off a shot from 25 feet. The results are in the pic below. I thought she did pretty dang good for her very first shot ever!

That's good, but where did the rest go?

Heheheh, there was only one round in the chamber! And we did not fire any more at that target. She is saving it.

Awesome! Tell your daughter we said so. Keep up the good work, and keep her into it. I know you're proud of her (since you posted). LOL!
One shot luck? Keep it going! Nothing like a family day at the range. "Never shot a gun before".........that's the way most of us start out. Tell your daughter I'm proud of her just taking the first steps. Sometimes outside influences make it or break it. LOL!
It's cool.....I'm happily married to a gun girl if you were ever thinking something else.
Geez....so are you a grandpa yet? All in fun. But you need a grandchild to share the joy and promote the shooting sports IMO. Give your daughter my best wishes.

She should frame that target!!! You can get inexpensive poster frames at wally world. She can pick one up when she does her first wally world walk.

    That's great! Good shot.

It's great when fathers and daughters can bond and have fun together.

Awesome! Hopefully it'll soon show back up in a nice picture frame to hang on the wall for posterity.
