GLOCK. Lets hear your opinion...
I'm sure I opened a can of something...
I'm a GLOCK owner and love my GLOCK. Although there ARE other guns I like as well...
I would own and carry a Smith (Wheel Gun), H&K, Ruger, Sig, and Prob a Colt or Springfield 1911.
While I am no way downing ANY other pistol... I have this to say about GLOCKS.
Inexpensive (Not Cheap, that would mean poor quality)
Accurate (Which any gun would be more accurate then I...)
I used to HATE GLOCKS with a passion... till I fired one... I never thought I'd like, let alone love the Fantastic Plastic...
For the Price, the out of the box performance is hard to beat...
I'd love to own a 1911 someday, but thats when I got an extra $700+ to add to the gun to get it just the way I want it...
So lets have it... Whats your take on GLOCKS...?

Glocks are a weapon. They are made to shoot extremely well out of the box and be totally reliable. I love Glocks but they aren't the prettiest things!! I'll never sell the two I own but won't sell my pretty ones either!

My take is, I don't have a take. I don't own a Glock but I am warming up to them and the reliability of a Glock speaks for themselves. I wouldn't mind having a baby Glock 30 or maybe a G26 for summer carry with the pinky extention, I just haven't made the plunge yet and I might never make the plunge. I carry 1911's, Kimbers, Colts, customs and just like the look and feel of a 1911 best so that is what I carry and shoot.
Sighting a Glock looks very wide and strange compared to a 1911 for me and for the most part has been what has kept me from getting one. The grip is not a problem for me as I have big hands that are not thick hands and found gripping a Glock works well for me, although I have not shot one yet.
My P.I. buddy has them and swears by them. Like I said the rep that Glock has can not be denied, add the cost in and easy care/break down they are hard to beat.
Although I believe that Glocks are about $100.00 over priced but that is another argument/discussion.
Train and train hard, you might not get a second chance to make a first impression!

anything that functions reliably is beautiful, and when you can get absolute reliability for around $500 its even better.

I like Glocks. If you treat your gun like your lawnmower, get a Glock.

Not really my thing.... Between not liking the trigger (I've shot my share of glocks, with a couple glock-heavy range buds! :) ), not liking the grip, wishing there was an external safety, and the whole 'unsupported case' thingy, they probably won't become 'my thing' anytime soon....

My wife and I have three of them. G17, two G26's. I love them all. I like nice, well made things that function as designed. I don't want, or know how, to "tinker" with guns. I don't want to be a gunsmith. I want to shoot. I want to spend my time and money shooting, not tinkering and upgrading. Ergo, no 1911 <sigh>. I got them because of their:
I learned to shoot with Glocks, so the funky angle, grip, and sight picture look "right" to me. LOL. All 9mm's cause its cheap to shoota a lot and with the right load, a good SD tool.
No soul? Agreed. I really can't "see" a gun with "soul" anyway....sorry folks (nothing intended - some antiques, definitely yes)....A thing of beauty? Nope. An F-16 isn't either, but darn...it'd be fun! A Huey too.
This is a thing of beauty...!!!!! http://www.combatcarry.com/vbulletin...ad.php?t=11670
Again, it just goes back to me. I love nice tools (Glocks, trucks, computers, hand tools, etc.) , take great care of them, and expect everything from them. If they fail, they're gone, or on a real "short leash".
Just a totally personal deal - just like I believe it is for everyone here that loves 1911, BHP's, Sigs, Beretta's, you name it. Makes this a real interesting place! I love hearing about others' new guns, whatever they are, seeing the pictures, hearing the stories, and learning a lot. Even if I shoot Glocks.

As most here know they are what I trust my families and my life with. I have two of them and both have gone boom every time I have pulled the trigger. What more can we want from a weapon?
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
