I really could use a replacement hammer and sear for my Ruger 345. The parts list (Ruger's) says they have to be "factory fitted".
Does that really mean that I need to send the gun to them?
Is there any way of purchasing these parts -from another source maybe?
Any ideas.

If you are messing with a hammer or a sear, you had better know exactly what you are doing..as in..having done it before so that you know the proper hammer/sear engagment.
I suppose I can understand their concern. I have done this kind of work before. I'd rather just leave it alone than send it in. However, the last time at the range, the hammer fell (after firing a round) and I did not touch the trigger. The last round did not fire as the trigger disconnect (or whatever you call it) apparently did its' job. I'd prefer that it didn't have to! -and I'm not crazy about the potential for going "full auto" either!
