I tend to think it would help sales of the Kel-tec Sub 2000 and its own product as well if they were to build one.

I thought it was a joke at first. Somebody needs to lose their job over that one.

My friend at the show just texted me and said Glock did NOT reserve the conference room and did NOT have a press conference. Can anyone else confirm?

They had a press conference, so far all I've been able to get is underwhelming, no carbine. Still hunting for what they actually did say though.

Edit:: Now the guy that was saying he was there, is now say he didn't go. Oh how much would be saved with just a simple Glock Press release on their website.

Im not saying they arent selling competitvely, numbers wise. I am a staunch Glock supporter. Their large sales numbers are largely LE sales. LE will continue to buy them, but the rest of American society is a "instant gratification" bunch. They want new and/or improved all the time. If you cant make some more new relevant stuff to keep people interested they are going to move on to the new shiny (or in this case tacticool black) thing on the market.

It is pretty widely nown wthin the industry circles that Gaston is very stubborn and short sighted. In his opinion, the company should build one gun, the G17 1st Gen. In his opinion, he built Glock perfection the first time. It doesnt need tac rails or finger grooves etc.

Mulitple websites claimed that they were having one this morning.

But it now looks like that there wasn't one after all.

I guess that Glock doesn't need to innovate at all and bring out any new products. For example, in 2009 ( the latest year that full data is available ) Glock exported 605,000 handguns just to the USA alone.

I think that all companies need to innovate. If Glock does not innovate, another solid company like Heckler & Koch, Kahr, Walther, Beretta, Ruger or Kel-Tec can come up with the next best thing and take a big chunk of those 605,000 handguns that were purchased in the United States. The majority of sales from Glocks are from Law Enforcement, so if they stop innovating the agencies might start looking for some new attractive features from the other manufacturers. A company simply cannot stop innovating or in a few years they will be out of the market. Apple sold in 2010: 16 Million iPhones, 7 Million iPads and 19 Million iPods for a total revenue of $26 Billion. What would happen if Apple decides to stop innovating because they are selling a ton of stuff? They would be toast in 5 years because Google or Microsoft would come up with something new.

I do believe that Glock needs to come up with something unique very soon because Kahr, Ruger, Walther, Beretta, H&K, Sig Sauer, FNH and other firearm companies are quickly offering very attractive handguns to consumers and law enforcement agencies. They are slowly stealing market share from Glock who has not launched anything new in the past 10 years. Think about it, what is so special and unique about the Gen 4 handguns? They have a more ergonomic grip and the backstraps are interchangeable? This has been available in H&K, Walther and many other guns for a while. Nothing new there, just imitation.
