    New Gun Question

My Father-In-Law gave me 2 guns tonight, a S&W model 10 and a Thompson Auto-Ordinance 1911. My question is on the 1911, is there any where that I can look up serial numbers to determine the age of the gun?

It is doubtful it is very old...I dont think they have been in the 1911 business a lot of years?

Just call them. I have had some limited contact with them and found them to be extremely nice and cooperative.

Only a bit older than my Taurus PT-1911 (sarcasm), if you have to know give them a call, otherwise it ain't a Colt.

Actually Auto Ordinance has been in business quite a few years. The company has changed hands several times and is now owned by Kahr Arms. I purchased a Auto Ordinance 1911 back in the mid 90's.
