You ought to be able to pick something up fairly cheap $10-15K.

I share your bug. They are cool but oh boy$$$. The closest I can ever get is a Double shotgun, as in coach gun. The Stoeger 12 Ga. is on my list.
    Good luck with your search.

That is a steal! I would have to sell off a few toys to spend that much though.

I had the same bug last year, and I really like the Krieghoff and Merkels, but they are expensive... You can find them for under $10k, especially if you go for a smaller caliber. Unless you are going to Africa, there isn't really a need to get a Nitro Express caliber...

I like the Krieghoff concept of being able to use different barrels and combination for the same gun. It saves you a few bucks when you are buying a Krieghoff...

If you don't have close to $10k to spend on a Double Barrel Rifle (DBR), you can do what I did, get a Remington SPR22 for a tenth of the price. I paid $850 a few months ago. It was a new gun, but it had been sitting on the rack for a while and they only made them for two years I think. I didn't want to miss the boat on it, so I bought it. I got the 45-70, and it's a cool looking gun I think.

Check out the link below about the EAA Sabati double rifle. Maybe not the big name but a beautiful and serviceable rifle nonetheless. $3500-9000.

A decent double rifle will run you close to a Pennsylvania zip code in dollars...

I really want a big caliber! I am gonna do some serious looking into the EAA's I could buy a SXS 4570 from them and a bolt 416 Rigby from CZ for cheaper than I could buy any of the doubles I wanted!

I remember reading about one of the coach shotgun makers having inserts that turned the shotgun into a 45-70 double, and you could add express sites.

If 45-70 is big enough and you don't want to spend thousands of dollars, check out the Remington SPR22 in post# 10.
