Doesn't look justified to me. The pumpkin wasn't armed or acting as a threat but still fun to shoot them. 12 guage buck shot and slugs are pretty cool on fruits and veggies too.

You are not paranoid if They are actually out to get you, however, They probably are not and you probably are.

Larger cal definitely means a bigger hole and more stopping power - even if it was a pumpkin ! --- fun video thanks for posting.
A pumpkin is not a good handgun tgt, shoot one with a soft point rifle cartridge if you want drama.
