    Toy Guns in Hawaii

Someone was telling me that in Hawaii "they" are trying to get a law passed to ban the selling of plastic and/or "toy" handguns to minors.

Anyone got a bead on this?

No, but, I wouldn't be surprised, the gun laws here are pretty awful. I'll dig around a little and see what I can come up with..

I love the term "gateway gun"!

They should ban toy guns that look like real guns as that is just asking to get a kid shot. But banning clear water pistols?

What next, 90 days in jail for pointing your finger like a gun at someone? These people need to get out from behind their desk and see what the real world is about.

I don't believe liberals/progressives have a true sense of useful or valuable. They are foreign concepts to them.

Thanks, GB. And YES, Archer, kids have been suspended from school for "using" their little fingies as surrogate pistols.

Surprisingly, researchers in the anti-gun United Kingdom have recently stated that it is good to let young boys play with toy guns. Efforts to ban toy guns there are actually having a detrimental effect on children. She found that boys became dispirited and withdrawn when they are told that they could not play with toy guns.

Here is a link to a news story all about this interesting research:

i personally do not see a problem with banning CO2 and airsoft pistols from being sold to minors under the age of 16. Even a plastic toy gun thats black with an orange marker could be mistaken for a real gun and get a kid shot. I do not have a problem allowing the obviously fake paint jobs and the obvious clear water guns, but anything that looks real should have an age limit on it.

You have to wonder how long it will be until "A Christmas Story" is re-written, to be politically correct, where there is no mention of the Red Ryder BB gun. Copy shows will only show tazers and The Rifleman, Bonanza and Mavrick will be baned from TV.
