Get a Simmons Pro Series, never had a problem and if you do just send it back and they will take care of you.You can probably pick up a decent Nikon under $300 as well, if I had to choose id go for the Nikon.
Well You Boys Gonna Pull Them Pistols, Or Whistle Dixie.
I have a Ruger 300 win mag and I use a Simmons Pro hunter, and have fired over 400 rounds through it and it has never gone off target. Simmons is a well made scope. The 44 mag is a good model to get.
One more step and it's on!
Check Konus out. Their pro series has a glass etched reticle and they have a lifetime warranty.
For under $300, I'd go with a Burris Fullfield. You can find a 3 X 9 X 40 for under $200, if you look around. I bought a new one off E-Bay last month for $169 to mount on an Encore barrel. I have one on a Ruger 77, 30/06, that I bought new in 1975, both the gun and the scope. I have used them hard for 35 years and but both still work as well as ever.
