Please help with 22 caliber 1911 frame gun

Hey guys Ive come to value your opinions so here goes!

I am trying to get into silouete shooting on a league and most of them are shooting rimfire guns, my first choice was to use my springfield 1911 but then I started adding up the amount I would have to spend on ammo and

So I was thinking of maybe getting a 22 caliber 1911 and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions about which ones (except kimber) unless you have one and are going to sell it to me cheap that is cause wow they are expensive.

I have checked out the GSG and chiappa but i dont really know anything about them.

Get a Marvel Conversion kit. Other than that wait till Sig and Colt have their .22 guns available this year. Next year I may ditch my Kimber conversion and go with a Marvel or maybe a kit from Tactical Solutions. I've been shooting a Browning Buckmark in a bullseye league for the last two years. I do OK with it, holding a 520ish average out of 600 which isn't bad for a stock Buckmark, but I do wonder what I could do with something else.

When do you think Sig might come out with one and do you know what it is called?

I don't know, it's in this years catalog as the 1911-22.

Do you plan on using an optic or just shooting with irons?

I had hoped to just use irons.

I have shot 1911s for50+ years and for most of those have kept a Ciener .22 conversion slide/barrel/mag kit for them. Last year I bought a RIA A-1 with the Ciener kit on it--no 45 barrel. I shoot it often and don't have to change out anything. I love it and it sure makes practice more affordable and sure is fun. Recently I got a brick of Federal .22 out and it would not eject well with the kit. I could change to any other brand of .22 that we had at the range that day and no problems. I remember few problems down through the years. I looked at the Chiappa at my LGS, but it did not look like a quality build to me. I bought the used RIA 25% less than the Chiappa new.

I also have a Ciener Commander length conversion and it shoots great on both a Colt and Kimber and also on my SIL's SA. You will enjoy the 1911/.22 and shoot more also. IMHO.

I have the Kimber conversion kit. It does well with CCI Mini-mag, but don't even think about putting the bulk Federal or Remington stuff through it. Too bad...

I use a ciener as well, there are some people who have problems with it, but so far it's worked out for me. I installed it on my RIA/armscor GI, it also fits commander and officer framed units. If you have a 9mm 1911 you will have to remove the ejector. I've been thinking of getting the advantage arms unit with the last round hold open, but they are back logged.

Sorry about the pic, learning how to post. Also had the barrel threaded and installed a supressor, works quite well with subsonic rounds as long as you have the can on.
