A 9mm might expand but a .45 will never shrink enough to fit 17 in the magazine.
Any Remington that you buy will get the job done. Do you hunt much now? IMO, guns are alot like cars, the lexus is nice, but at the end of the day its a camry in disguise.
RNS - at first glance I would say go with the 770 (no, I can't believe I'm saying that). However, there's also an ethical question here. Have you developed and retained your shooting skills to a point where you can ethically attempt to harvest game after only shooting a box of shells/yr to include sighting in and practice? A better option would probably be to look for a used Model 7.
