I was looking to buy some additional mags for my new Springfield 1911 mil spec. I noticed the Wilson mags (P/N 47D) have an 8 round capacity while the Springfield mags that came with the pistol have a 7 round capacity. Are they simply extended mags or will the pistol need modification to use them?
They will fit the MILSPEC.
Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around laws. Plato
Good to know thanks Steve!

You might also give a look at the Chip McCormack Power Mags. I use them in my DW 1911 and they have been flawless.

Where of course you get your magazine's will differ in price i too have a Mil Spec Springfield and Springfield makes a stainless 8 round magazine. I would tell you also the bargain mags are eight round stainless MecGar magazines but they got greedy as well and are listed up in price where at one time they were all day long $14 for blue steel and $17 for stainless. I have a huge Sam's club sized coffee bin i use to store my magazine's in separated by caliber with exception to 45acp it's full of basically 1911 mags of all sort. Here is what I recommend for 1911's:
Springfield Armory: they actually make excellent stainless magazines.
Colt: stainless steel only.
they all make good eight rounder's Chip McCormick actually makes a ten rounder that will fit flush in your Government Model framed Mil Spec but I have always had issue's with their ten rounder magazines, never with their eight rounders.
And yes all eight rounder's will fit your Mil Spec flush..
If you can read this thank a teacher. If it is written in English thank a Marine.
I have Chip McCormack Power Mags and there have been NO issues. I think for your money in the long run, you can't go wrong.

I'd go with the Wilson ETM.

I've had good success with Chip McCormick and Wilson

I'm liking Wilson's ETM's also. A true longer tubed 8-round mag. They're best in a gun with a magwell, they stick out funny without a well.
