Gunshop discussion tonight: "you are only allowed to own one pistol, rifle, and shotg

Late night at the gunshop and we were bored, security camera people were installing new stuff. The conversation turned to the current subject. A new gun control law allows each adult to own only one pistol, one rifle, and one shotgun. We debated conditions at length so lets use the current definition of a firearm so in theory you could choose a TC Contender frame and many barrel sets, or one AR lower and a bunch of uppers. You Dan Wesson pistol set owners will be lucky.

One of our group was a local LEO, and while he had strong opinions about exactly what would happen if some law made us turn in all but three guns, please assume that as responsible gun owners we must obey the law. Also those LEOs out there may assume your duty gun will be issued and the three choices are yours personally.

The choices aparantly tell a lot about the shooter. What say you?

    12 Guage Remington 870
    Bolt Action .308
P35 in .40 S&W assuming the most common LEO Duty Load stays .40 S&W.

With those three I can get game, defend home, and preserve life. They are common calibers, so a midnight requisition foray should lead me to being able to resupply with minimal difficulty.

Spare parts will be easy to come by, except for the P35. I'll just have to use the 12 Guage to get what I need, be it medicine, food, money.

    What say you?
Given that I am married and my wife will not own a gun of her own, I will use her allowance too :).

    Handgun - G21 (.45) & S&W 640 (.357)
    Shotty - Mossberg M500 (12 guage) - I have various barrels for this setup & An O/U set with screw choke barrels for 4 gauges (12, 20, 28 & .410)
    Rifle - Rem 700 (30-06) & Mini 14 (.223)

I put my choice first then my wife's "choice". The toughest choice is in the handgun category. I like the compact form of the Smith so that was a given for concealed carry, but it is second to my G21. I went with the G21 over my Springer Loaded for capacity. While the Springer is more fun to shoot, If I am limited, I will go with capacity as it is more adaptable to changing situations.

OP - BTW what law is this? Is it a local, state or federal idea? I appreciate your input.

Glock or 1911 (very common and parts easily found)
Rem 870 (the barrel configurations makes it multi-purpose)
The rifle would be a toss-up: A Rem 700 in .308 OR an AR type .223 with a .22 conversion (so I could both ways ).

The OP specified 1 pistol, but I notice there are quite a few revolvers listed.

I would go with 1911 and a .22 conversion, Colt's new AR that will allow .223 or .308 uppers (+.22 conversion), and an 870 in 12 gauge.
