    Help with pistol "history".

I have a Colt 1911A1 I'm trying to get some history on. On the left side of the slide it has patent dates from APR.20.1897 to AUG.19.1913, a "prancing pony" and Colt S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. and below that HARTFORD,CT. U.S.A . On the right of the slide it says :UNITED STATES PROPERTY, below that : No1110926, then , further right : M1911A1 U.S.ARMY. There's a P below the mag release and some "weird" symbol barely discernable near the upper left corner of the right side grip cover. Any info appreciated.
    Thanks..........krly

some pictures would be very helpful
To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women

It says UNITED STATES PROPERTY on the slide, or on the frame? Serial number is from '43, the right side of the slide should be bare. Dragman is correct, pictures are needed.
