In Ohio I've bought about 10 firearms from stores and have never been charged a fee for the background check.

I've bought two firearms in the last several months. In both instances I was charged a $20 FFL transfer fee and $10 for the NICS check. This was at two separate LGS in East Tennessee.

No charge here in MI, no charge for my Pistol Purchase Permit either from my local PD- I was surprised on that one.

Florida charges $5 bucks for NICS fee, regardless of CCW or not. The only advantage here by having the CCW is no 3 day wait to take possession of a handgun. Sucks...I know.

Dang, that sucks. I bought my M&P before I had my license. I walked into the store, told them what I wanted, filled out a couple papers, waited while he called in a BG check, paid and walked out with it. Half an hour, tops.

Here in VA, the State Police charges the dealer $2 for an in-state check, and $5 for an out-of-state check (long guns purchases, obviously). The shop I worked for passed that cost on to the customer, and it was never a deal-breaker. Of course, we tell them that the cost is passed on to them, and it even says it right on the State form they fill out (here in VA you have to do both the 4473 and a State form), so they know we're not profiting off of it.

I believe the 3 day wait is for handguns and only in certain counties. It's one of the few exceptions to the preemption rule.
The $5.00 bucks has never been a deal breaker for me.

No charge here in Texas and if you have a CC permit, they don't even call it in. You fill out the form, pay your money and you're out the door.

This is correct... In Oregon our checks go through the Oregon State Police who then run us through NICS... They (OSP) then pocket that $10 and go merrily on their way...
