I voted for the Special Combat .45ACP Hard Chrome. I really like the concept of the Defender, but when offered the choice between it and the short-lived CCO, I went with the latter. I prefer staying as close as possible to the original operating system on any pistol, and so I'm a little leery of the Defender's recoil rod set-up...just my own personal opinion, I've never heard anyone having difficulties with it.
As for .45ACP versus .38 Super, I like the idea of the .38 Super too...racy and all that. I don't think, however, that I'd like the price of the ammunition at the gun store. If you reload, then that probably isn't a consideration.
As for the hard chrome, I just think it's more practical.
Good luck, and good shooting with whatever you decide!![]()
i voted for the 38supper because iv heard tail that there slick shooting and kinda rare for the avrage guy to own would love to add one to my safe and i voted for the two tone because it looks good btw read in a bookonce where the author called the 38 supper a profesonals gun easy to handal and reaquire a 2nd shot fast n acurate
First 45 I bought was a Defender, still own it. Love the ergonomics, but it has a tendancy to jam more than any of the other 1911's I've owned. This started out early, and hasn't improved. Mine is a Custom Shop version with a ported barrel. I do have to say it is very accurate for a 3 1/2" and carries well. I just don't know if I trust it anymore. I carry my Wilson Combat CQB Compact, as I DO trust it. Also, the Hogue grips on a Defender seem to make it more prone to catching a loose shirt and pulling it up if you bend or turn.
Well Bud,
How many and what types of 1911s do you currently have.
I know you have the Springer and the Commander you posted about recently...so I voted for the .38 Special Combat.
While my list is growing as far as "My Next Gun" is concearned(funny how my next gun is actually 3 or 4) a 1911 in .38 Super is one of them.
I have or will have 2 in .40 as soon as my Kimber CDP is released from my FFL, and 3 in .45...I probally won't buy a 9mm unless I find another series 70 Combat Commander in satin nickel to match my
.45. So I'm thinking that a .38 super or a nice Delta Elite will be my next 1911. Unfortunatly(pending on how you look at it, I've maxed out my gun budget for the year all readyThen again if I ever find another Series 70 Gold Cup for under $800, my wife will just have to kill me...I've missed 2 really nice ones, 1 by a day in Connecticut and one by about half an hour here in PA.

I have a 38 super too..lol
I ordered a Rifle tonight for deer season while i wait for the poll above to close...lol
what did you order? I'm thinking of upgrading from my Marlin 336cs in .35 Remington to an '06 and know knowing you have a Super I'd go with the Hard Chrome Special Combat in .45ACP, it's a righteous pistol.
Bud, my choice would be the Special Combat .45 in hard chrome.
The power of the future is in its ability to inspire the present.
I ordered a Ruger 25-06 left hand bolt more for pops than me he cant take the recoil after this last round of surgery and blood thinners so it'll be mine but he will use it ..lol
i did price out the colt special combats finding one will be interesting price isn't as bad as i thought it would be
I vote for ther Defender. Got one and love it!!
Bud,
Buy that .38 AMU Colt, be the only kid on your block with one.![]()
