A request for the NRA members on here
If you are a NRA member with a membership that allows you to vote for the board of directors I would like to as a favor of you. In your most recent (march) magazine it would have had the voting guide and ballot. Please include Linda Walker from Ohio when you vote, or just vote for her and send it in.
I know her personally and can vouch for how much she has done for 2nd amendment rights in Ohio. Here is a thread about her on the forum of Buckeye Firearms Association, a pro 2A group in Ohio that I am a member of.
Thank you for reading this and I hope you take the time to vote for her.

Will do.
More than that, your post triggers a thought. This is embarrassing but I will admit it, anyway. I have been a life member (3rd generation) since mid-'60's and have never voted in an NRA election. This situation is all the more embarrassing because I have often been very unhappy with things the NRA has done. So, why haven't I voted? Simply because I didn't really know anything about the candidates. Forums like this one give us the opportunity to communicate effortlessly with NRA members everywhere. How about a thread soliciting recommendations, positive or negative, about candidates who are personally known others? Obviously, this idea could also be transplanted to other discussion boards.
How about it Hedgelj, since you are the OP, why don't you throw it out there? If you are not interested, I don't mind doing it; there's nothing to lose and it may turn up some good candidates that we would not otherwise know about.

Kudzu,
If you could do what you detailed in your post it would be beneficial I agree. I am just trying to help a friend and one of the leaders of the local pro 2A organization I am a member of attain tis goal of hers. I will say this, if you only like 1 or 2 candidates only vote for them, not just all 25 as you're able to.

she was marked on my ballot, as well as Charles Cotton from here in Texas. Charles has been on the very forefront of licensed carry here in Texas since the 80's when it was first being strongly considered.
I couldn't find the "maximum" number of candidates to mark on my ballot. If they didn't clearly appear to be strong proponents of self defense carry of handguns, whether licensed, unlicensed, CC or OC, they did NOT get my vote. I have the attitude of "ducks unlimited crowd need not apply".

Yeah, I get the ballot and pick the few I know, then sort of rely on the bios for a few others, but I never vote for as many as I could. I just don't know these people at all once you get past celebrities and firearms related business owners. In theory they are all pro 2A so what sets some apart from others. I know there are and have been rifts in the NRA leadership (Neal Knox, 2A activism v. tradition, something about the Cincinatti meeting a while back) but nobody goes to much effort to expose them. The NRA runs an ad saying, "We want this list on the board" and that's about it.
If they're going to bother asking all eligible voters to cast a ballot you'd think they'd make it a little more transparent.

Elect Linda Walker
Hello folks, I am Linda Walker. Thanks to Doug for posting this thread for me. I will paste a letter I have circulating and then my extensive 2A bio. And then feel free to ask questions. But I will put this out there, which may clear up many of those questions about my stance on issues first: I believe our forefathers drafted incrediable documents called the Consitution and the Bill of Rights quite brilliantly! To deviate in any fashion from what they meant them to be is a crime against our citizens. What part of "shall NOT be infringed" do they not understand? Any gun control, up to and including magazine restrictions and restrictions upon citizens to own machine guns and accessories goes against what our forefathers drafted and is a crime against our citizens!
I humbly request your vote! Thanks,
Linda Walker

To My Fellow Second Amendment Brothers & Sisters,
My name is LINDA WALKER and I need your vote for the NRA Board of Directors.
As an ardent Second Amendment supporter, I am saddened by the erosion of our US Constitutional Rights over the years. The recent events in Tucson, as well as the Virginia Tech shootings, Colorado church murders, Columbine massacre, and other horrific events, have taught Americans nothing.
For too long, anti-gun advocates have played on the fears and ignorance of a gullible public to erase liberty and self-reliance from our national dialog. But I absolutely refuse to let them win this debate.
For many years now, I have called the Ohio Statehouse my second home as I have personally worked with legislators to protect and advance gun rights. While I have sought no personal gain for my efforts, the NRA honored me in 2009 with the “Sybil Ludington Women’s Freedom Award,” the highest honor given to one woman each year for Second Amendment legislation, advocacy, and education.
I serve as the Central Ohio Chair of Buckeye Firearms Association, Ohio’s foremost Second Amendment Rights organization. I have been present and testified in our Statehouse for nearly every hearing and vote over the past several years. I have directly assisted in the passage of legislation establishing Castle Doctrine in Ohio, statewide preemption of local gun bans, and historic reformations of concealed carry laws .
As a proud NRA certified instructor, I have taught well over a thousand students in safe, responsible gun handling and concealed carry. I also serve as Chairman of our county Friends of the NRA, work as an NRA Election Volunteer Coordinator for the Ohio 12th Congressional District, participate in local politics, and support the Ohio Gun Collectors Association.
If you help me get elected to the NRA Board of Directors, I vow that I will fight the encroachment of the BATF on the lawful use of firearms, stop foolish registration schemes, encourage youth and women to participate in hunting and shooting sports, and do everything in my power to prevent the erosion our God-given rights.
I am neither a celebrity nor a wealthy politician. I am a simple American who has dedicated her life to restoring the hopes and dreams of the Founding Fathers. I have fought in the trenches of legislation, educated citizens in basic self-defense, and tried my best to uphold the values of our Constitution.
I have done all this for my family, for my state, for my country, and for you.
If you are a voting member of the NRA, I humbly ask for your faith in me. And I ask for your vote. When you receive the Board of Directors ballot in your NRA publication scheduled for late February or early March, please vote for LINDA WALKER.
Thank you and God bless you and our great nation.
