Queens Chronicle - DA says ‘no’ to gun buyback

The official said he “cannot commit” to holding another gun buyback program, even though the last one was highly successful, taking over 900 weapons off the streets of southeast Queens, due to a lack of funding.

NYC is known as the safest big city in America. Guns are stringently controlled. There are surprisingly few gun murders. Yet 900 guns taken in just ONE buyback in ONE section of the city. Somehow the math and logic aren't working out for me.

Most buy back guns are POS. Does the city really think the thugs and bangers are turning in their tools of the trade?

Since most so-called buy back programs are no questions asked I am willing to bet some thugs use them to dispose of guns they have used in crimes and to pick up a little cash to purchase another.
