    does this require an FFl?

I have an Old savage 120A single shot .22 rifle I want to sell. It's 50+ years old and has no serial number. Since it does not have a serial # if I were to sell it on a forum or to someone out of state would I need to send it to an FFl or is it not needed?

Rifle is in great shape and shoots great I just don't use it much, incase anyone want's to buy it $100.
Vermont does not issue Permit/Licenses to Carry a Concealed firearm. Vermont allows anyone
who can legally own a firearm to carry it concealed without a permit of any kind.

    found this

In-state, it depends on state laws. (i.e. a face to face transfer)

Out of state, unless they're specifically curios/relics, then yes, they still need to go through an FFL.

I believe they were made between 1936 and 1971, so I would think they would have a serial number but it might be hidden somewhere. You would be better off calling the ATF or contacting Savage.

Best way to do it is always thru a FFL........Contact Ed's gun and stock repair in Colchester VT.....tell him Bob W (he knows me well) from Kittery (the trading post) sent you..He (Ed) will know what you can do......

Sounds to me that this particular rifle was made prior to 1968. That was when serial numbers were required on firearms by law. I have 2 shotguns with no serial numbers. Dealers should have no trouble making a transfer.

Lack of a serial number doesn't release the requirement to transfer through an FFL holder if you are sending the item across state lines.
The preceding post may contain sarcasm; it's just better that way. However, it is still intended with construction and with the Love of my L-rd Y'shua.

Somce states it is legal to transfer a "long gun" to someone living in a state that joins that state, as long as the other state also allows it.

Ours does, and those states that join us do as well, so we can do it without an FFL on a long gun to someone in those states. HOWEVER, it cannot be shipped, it has to be face to face.... among other things. Good to check the specific laws to be certain.
