There is no way I'd pick a Taurus 608 over a Smith & Wesson 686.
The preceding post may contain sarcasm; it's just better that way. However, it is still intended with construction and with the Love of my L-rd Y'shua.

Your best options are the Smith & Wesson 686 or a Ruger GP100.

Here's a good YouTube video that reviews the pro's and con's of the 686 vs. GP100:

and the Ruger SP101 and GP100 series are a breeze to dis-assemble for detail cleaning. If big bore is the object, I would have to go with the Rugers, either 3" SP101, GP100 series, Redhawk, or even SA Blackhawk. Nothing wrong with the Smiths or old Colts, but I've fallen in love with a revolver I can detail strip and "bond" with

+1 on the Ruger GP-100. Since your looking for a range gun I'd recommend the 6" model, but the 4" will work well also.
