    QKS, C hawk Glock ...

One of the original (1986) Colt Combat Elites.

I wanted one of these bad when they were first introduced, never found one, or couldn't afford one when I did see one for sale. I did have a 1984 stainless Series 80 MKIV at the time, so when Robbie Barrkman opened his place (Robar) in 1986, I sent the slide to him to have it "blackened." I still have that pistol, and the blackening is still holding up very well, even with that pistol having been my everyday carry piece for nearly 23 years.

Colt's web store has the original Pachmayr (checkered, not pebbled) stocks that these Combat Elite's originally came with, I plan on putting it back to factory, as closely as I can, anyway.

    Anyhow, gratuitous pictures.

Overall I am not a big fan of the 1911; but I will say it is one great looking gun!

That slide was blackened in '86? That is holding up amazingly well.
    Very Nice.

Yes Sir. Now the left side does show more wear from carry too.

This is a better picture of the CE, when I had tried an arched MSH, it's shine comes through a little better in this one (with corresponding reflections ).

Let me chew the flavor out of it and we'll see how it goes.

You're certainly welcome to shoot it amigo, if we'd ever meet up sometime.

That is my idea of the perfect carry 1911 meant for real business. Good looking gun! I want to add a 1911 back in my stable.

It will be next on the list after I get my XSE railgun back from the Colt Custom Shop! I am getting the front strap checkering, trigger job, new msh with matching checkering. It should be sweet. I also just picked up some custom shop colt grips from 1969, and they are some of the nicest Colt factory grips I have seen.

If it's still there, you might want to opt for a mild de-horn.
