GAP is Glock Automatic Pistol. It is a shorter 45 which allows for a slimmer grip. IIRC they are loaded hotter to get identical balistics to those of ACP. The length of the casing allows manufacturers to design guns around the same frame as the .40 or 9mm.Originally Posted by Timmy Jimmy
To be a bit more specific, the 45 GAP casing is shorter than the 45 ACP casing.

There are a LOT more ammo options for a .45ACP. While shopping an ammo dealer at the last gun show, a .45GAP owner was decrying the lack of choices, and especially the lack of good, cheap ammo. I could get a case of US WWB for 90 bucks. He couldn't even find a case of .45GAP. What few choices he had in defensive ammo were substantially higher in cost that the same iteration in .45ACP.
