The device is a replaceable shear pin at about 11 to 15 pounds of force required to fire the weapon. Stated purposes include prevent children from firing the weapon and reholstering NDs. Somehow I think my kids could defeat this device.

The product literature seems to imply the company is either anti or neutral on guns in general. Odd statement about the gun industry and the rain. Also odd that they will take your weapon in shipping and do the retrofit for free.

Seems like a good way to get a foreign debris caught in the working parts of your gun. Also duplicates the hard first/easy follow trigger pull theme that has fallen out of favor among many shooters.

You would have to drill and tap a hole into my dang head before I would ever even consider having that insane alteration performed on any one of my firearms.

Whoever invented that is dumber than a box of shear pins & has obviously never even owned a handgun for personal defense.

That's a BIG plus one. That is a STUPID idea!

The number of firearm-related accidents among children has drastically fallen, despite the much great number of firearms in private hands now.

There's no replacement for education and common sense. If you're leaving firearms about with small children, then that's the real problem - not needing a heavier trigger pull.

The inventor may have been well-intentioned, but this is treating the wrong part of the problem.

With my arthritis an 11-15 pound trigger pull I may as well carry a brick. Poor idea.

Having worked with devices that had shear pins installed, I know two things about them. The first is they will shear when you don't want them to, and the second is they won't shear when they are supposed to (or will not shear completely and jam up the device).

Horrible idea.

Hell, why not just wad a piece of paper up and put behind the trigger - then jerk it out when needed.

No, this is not a good idea at all And, ot opens up some serious liability issues.

What you need is................ hold on perhaps that will work?

Safes and holsters. When a gun is out of my safe, it is in a holster and on my person. When it is not in a holster and on my person, it is in a safe. This is a solution to a problem that shouldn't exist. If you are responsible enough to think the sheer pin thing is a good idea, spend that time and money on the safe and holster approach and leave your handguns alone.
