Practice with both eyes open

I may target shoot with my .22 and close one eye. But if I'm shooting my carry handgun, it's both eyes open and generally
point shooting.

I always shoot both eyes open, whether a pistol or a scoped weapon. I have a knack for mentally blocking out one eye's picture when aiming down a scope, but keeping the eye open.

Both eyes open!

Even though sometimes I'll catch myself using the left eye (RH shooter) instead of the right...but it works for shooting weak side!

I usually shoot with both eyes closed on the theory that I will probably be awakened from a sound sleep, the house will be pitch dark, and I will be shooting in the direction of the strange sound. This method of practice unnerved other folks using the range (although I'm quite accurate), so now I pretty much have the range to myself when I practice.



Just kidding guys. I practice with both eyes open. Have done it that way for quite a while.

Actually, if you wanted some practice shooting with sudden, bright light you could face away from the target, close your eyes tightly for one minute, then quickly turn around, pick up your weapon and fire. It would roughly approximate turning the lights on in a dark house to find an attacker. Albeit without the adrenaline dump.

I bought a three AA battery LED Maglight. I strapped the holster to the frame of my bed with electrical zip ties. I don't use the flashlight for anything else and I change the batteries twice a year when I change the smoke detector batteries. That way, I always have a working flashlight and I know exactly where it is.
