    happy birthday to me.....

My lovely bride and I went to a local store so she could get some running/cross-trainer shoes.
I ended up getting a surprise birthday present.....look what followed me home:
    Ruger GP100.jpg

Ruger GP100 4", factory rubber grips, adjustable rear sight
nice beefy .357 magnum, been wanting one to add to the collection for awhile
    I love my wife.
Went to range the next day to let my son shoot his new rifle (our new Remington 597 range report) and to try out the present.
Its a great shooter, like the grip, tames the recoil. Shot about 200 of .38 special WWB range stuff and about 50 .38spl +P hot stuff. I really like that big blast Don't have any pics of targets showing results for this new piece since me, the wife, and son had been shooting all sorts of stuff.
Will have to go back with some full .357 loads and try several kinds.
Wife shot it and loved it too. She also shot my S&W 642 and now she wants one......with the CT grips .
This will be a nice one to take hunting or in the woods with some full hot loads.

Congrats on the new pistol Zebra dude!

I have a real thing about Ruger revolvers. I think they are beautiful handguns. I have three of 'em and if I didn't already have a 3" Stainless Speed Six, I'd be all over the GP-100. The GP-100's are excellent guns!

I know you're gonna love it, man!

Nothing better than a new hand cannon on your birthday! Except for maybe a boom-stick. Either way, you're a winner!

Congrats on the new addition. Another Ruger revolver is on my short list too, should be later this year.. The balance on that Ruger looks like it soaks up the .357 recoil like a sponge.

    Oh and BTW, Happy BD.

Happy BD, and congrats on both the new wheel gun and having such a cool spouse!!! I have its predecesser the Ruger Police Service Six in 4" .357 Mag and it is a pure joy to shoot. Mine has the wooden grips and fixed sights. You're gonna love that GP for sure.

Wow, all I got for my birthday was a card. Nice revolver.

Congrats and Happy Happy! Wives that buy guns for presents are the greatest! I have one also.

I'm with "Barkn" on the Ruger revolvers...I've got three, Redhawk, Blackhawk, and a Vaquero, and couldn't be more satisfied. I have been wanting a .357 though, don't have one now, can't make up my mind if I want the SP101 or GP100...I'm not so much on the Ruger auto's though, they feel "klunky" to me. Just my $.02

That thing is a tank. Several years ago, I knew worked with a US Marshal who carried one of those. Great gun. You did well.

jwhite, your description is right....it feels like its built like a tank, very rugged feeling, rubber grips are awesome, the hot .38s were tamed quite well, pretty smooth trigger

will be nice to take on road trips, hunting/camping
now I get to shop for holster, speed loaders, and stock up on .357 (already have quite a bit .38 since I had the 642)

I'm gonna surprise her for her b-day with a 642 w/CT grips, then maybe I'll get surprised at Christmas with the next thing on my list
