Well, I hope the guy actually starts carrying. Next time maybe he won't be able to fake out his attackers.
I'm not sure what the focus of the story was supposed to be. Okay, hate crime laws won't stop hate crimes. Big deal. Laws against murder don't stop murders, but let's keep the laws against murder on the books anyway,ok?
I'm curious how did he "let, them assume I had a gun"? Did he whisper..Do you feel lucky punk?
I'm glad it worked out for him but...pretending to have a gun when you don't can escalate the situation and prove deadly for you.
What would have happened if instead of running away one of the BGs had pulled their own gun?
Best solution is to always carry your own gun.
I always was of the belief that any crime someone commits against me is a 'hate' crime. I mean if someone were to 'attempt' to mug me or rob my house, I am sure they would not be doing it because they 'like' me.
BTW I was gesturing with a lot of air quotes while typing this.
Hate laws don't stop crime. Guns stop crime.
That's what I thought, good reminder though.
