Fully loaded rotating the mags every six months when I fire my "old" carry ammo.
Hand guns full up and rotate, AR- 28rds in 30rd mags (superstitious?)
...one jagged hole!
Load 'em up with hollow points. I try to remember to replace the HP with FMJ before I send rounds downrange, usually forget so I guess I'm rotating my combat load.
I down load 1 in each carry mag (2 mags)
and of course since I have 1 chambered the mag in the gun is downloaded 1. Yeah I know I probably don't need to .. Just an old habit.

Got THAT right. Chamber the round and top off the mag. Quality mags are necessary.
Btw, Pro Mags SUCK.I had a pair of Pro Mags for my Sig P245 that had such burring present inside the body of the mag that they continually caused the follower to hang up resulting in a FTF jam. They were SO bad I could not in good conscience sell them because I didn't want to be the cause of another's early demise...so I eventually found some road construction taking place and tossed them under the big wheel of a steam roller. Playing card "flat."

My XD mags are 16 rounders. I fill them to 15 and rotate them when I shoot. If I stuff 16 in there I'll sometimes have difficulty getting that top round stripped from the mag. Not always, but sometimes and sometimes ain't gonna cut it on the street. With 15, I never have had a single issue.
I carry 15 in the piece and 15 more on the belt. If I can't get it done in 30 rounds then the zombies have taken over!![]()

<----My LT was unhappy that I did not have my PASS-Tag at that fire. But I found the body so he said he would overlook it. :)
I had a Sig 239 sit in the safe with 15+1 and the slide failed to lock back after the last round was fired. The magazine was used and I did not know how old it was. My carry guns get shot enough that it's not a worry, but I would not +1 a gun for more than a few months without concern.
