I'll probably get one myself, the only drawback right now, is that they're as scarce as hens teeth.

I bought an R1 1911. I've been pretty satisfied. Came with one crappy mag that was causing FTF's, but a few Wilson Combat mags later, and it's reliable. And it wasn't the gun "breaking in" because that specific mag that caused FTF's STILL causes FTF's even now. The trigger could be better. It's a little gritty fighting past the block. It's not a great trigger as far as 1911 triggers go (still not bad), but as far as a typical trigger goes, it's still really nice. I think my USP still has a nicer trigger.

But overall, I love my R1. I only OC it when I go to the range. I've CCed it only once in public. It's just too heavy.

I do plan on eventually getting that 4" SA 1911 I just commented one :D

But I don't 1911's for carry. I've said it a million times, I don't like thumb safeties on defensive pistols.

Ed Brown Kobra or Special Forces carry commander, SS, single side safety, only Ed Brown Custom on the gun and Gen 111 coating.

Hopefully, I'll be getting a little closer to my dream in a few weeks/couple months. Looking into a GI model from RIA. Not exactly my dream, but it's a 1911.

You'll probably enjoy that Rock Island gun, RevolvingMag. My youngest son has had one now for several years and it's given great service. Couldn't ask for better performance. I think I'm more impressed with it than I am some more expensive 1911 clones.

I've had some nice 1911's, but even if I had the big bucks, I'd still invest in more Glocks.

I would, however, probably get another (sold my last one in Alaska) Ruger Redhawk in .44 mag.
