It doesn't need to be cleaned. Are you using a .22 conversion kit? If you are just run some .223 through it every now and then.

Yeah don't clean them, they will actually cycle better once they get a little bit of build up sealing anywhere that little spurts of gas could come out of on a new gun.

The gas tube won't clog. The temps and velocity of the gas make it pretty much self-cleaning. There's more risk to having a broken-off pipe cleaner than there is to clogging.

If you are going to clean, I've heard not to use any solvents at all. Just a dry pipe cleaner designed for the AR gas tube. They sell them online.

I bought a bundle of them years ago from Cheaper Than Dirt, and have never used them since finding out the gas tube is not a necessary component to clean. But if you want some, use the direct link above. They still stock them.

I don't remember ever cleaning the gas tube when I was in the Marine Corps. But I was in an Air Wing and we didn't shoot rifles much.

I would leave the gas tube alone...you're more likely to damage/break/bend something that doesn't need to be damaged/broken/bent when it doesn't need to be cleaned. Seriously...

Agreed with all of the above. When it becomes unserviceable, replace it. No cleaning.
