    Went Dove Hunting today

Loaded up my Beretta 390,AR 15 with 120 rounds in 4 mags,1911 with 4 mags to go shoot a few birds....with the Rio Grande River/Mexican Border close enough I coulda hit the other side with bird shot,We were armed for anything, and with the mentality of nothing good ever happens at the Border after dark we bugged out while we still had about 1/2 hour of daylight left, and only thing we saw on the way out was the Border Patrol heading in to patrol it.
Just in case anybody is thinking about joining the Border Patrol I noticed they had their Hiring Banner up on the Area Headquarters building

Good deal. Sounds like you were loaded for bear as opposed to doves. ;-)

I've been hearing shotgun blasts for two days from my front porch. Not a good time to be a dove around here right now.

Ah, dove season. Just picked up some bacon..now for the grilling. Husband has been out twice now and gotten his limit each time. So far, I've just helped clean them.

Dang drought conditions made the doves real scarce in my usual place which is normally teeming with 'em on opening day. Two of us quit after 2 hours with 7 birds total between us. We need some rain!!!

Got a limit this afternoon. Might try again later in the week. Took my 10 yr old daughter with me, her first dove hunt. She loved it. She was the official bird dog for the day.

South Texas/Hidalgo County, down where the pointy part of Texas is I'm about 70 miles west of that. It's early White Wing season, they don't get too far north of The Rio Grande Valley,we can take 4 regular dove and 1 white tip dove and the rest whitewing in a 15 bag limit for the first 2 weekends from 12 til sundown, after that we can take 15 morning dove
I swear to god as we were leaving I saw a guy with a pale blue shirt in the brush about 200 yards east of us,I didn't have any binoculars with me or I woulda glassed it,area we were in is known for human and drug smuggling, but they usually wait til dark

Sounds like fun dukalmighty, stay safe down there on the border. Your eyes probably weren't lying to you, probably had stepped to rest during the day.
