Chemical way of removing black coating from Glock slide

Just wondering if anyone has some experience in removing the black coating from the Glock slide without removing any metal, chemically. Removing the black from the barrel is easy, but the slide is proving to be a little harder to do... I'd just go ahead and try MEK, but I don't want to be throwing up on my self the entire time if I don't have to... that stuff is potent!!!

    Thanks.

OK, I'll bite, I'm ignorant, why would you want to do this?

MEK wont do squat... acid bath might... or bead blast, or buffing wheel

FYI, if you remove the nitride finish, it will rust...

    why r u doing this?

    Why why why!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

I'd just send your slide off to get a silver colored finish put on it.

If you remove the black outer coating, it will be whitetish (the color of tennifer). If you go further down than that, you'll be exposing carbons teel. Not a good idea.

Not going to be gold plating my Glock guys, I got a little class left.

The reason I want to do it is that I want a silver-ish slide. Purely cosmetic I know. I also know that the slide sometimes is not purely silver (one reason for the black coating in the first place). Another reason I want to see what it looks like before I decide on anything else.

Now, if I remove the black coating chemically, then it won't alter the metal underneath it, so no metal removed like sandpaper, polishing, blasting, etc...
If it looks good, great, then I'll keep it that way. If not, then I'll send it off for hard chroming or cera-plating. I just don't see the point in having something hard chromed if it's going to look good with just the Tenifered slide.

Again, purely cosmetic I know, Just can't stand not trying it.
