Hah! Maybe an Urban Legend, but not too far off the mark......
I was at my local gun range/gun store a couple of years ago and was amazed to see a little old lady (easiliy 80 years old)being shown a Glock 21, XD 45, and an M&P 45....all full size, bad ass .45 autos. I moved up along side as a small crowd gathered around Granny watching in amazement as she easily racked the slide, sighted in the guns on the wall and pulled the trigger. I finally asked her why she was interested in such large caliber guns being that she was about 5' 3" and 110 pounds soaking wet. She looked me right in the eye and said, "My house was broken into while I was in New York visiting my son. If they come back while I'm home, I don't want to have to shoot them twice". She showed me her target from the range, and all shots were dead center....and all were big .45 holes.

If I remember correctly, they can't file charges based on Urban Legends.
