Bobcat 21 22cal

Have read quite a number of pros and a few cons on this weapon. It seems to me that for the most part owners of this gun like it very well (provided it has the right ammo) The ones would dont like like overwhelmingly seem to be because of jamming problems. My question is I am looking to purchase a used one from a FFL and it just occurred to me that that all of the "lemons" were sold off.

Is there any way of telling if the gun had jamming problems (short of taking it to the range). If not then can I assume it might be better to buy the gun new? Please let me know your thoughts
