If you're ever going to be in my neck of the woods give me a shout. The Youngstown Rifle and Pistol Club has a nice 200yard range.
I don't know what you mean by how deep.

If you mean the range distance they have a 25 50 and 100 yard ranges. Its $5 for a day. Its about an hour away for me. Nice range though.

Will keep your offer in mind. I have no problem making a side trip to shoot when I travel.

I have an older Leupold Vari X ll - 2X7 on my M 700 30.06 Classic. It has been way north for Caribou, out West for Elk, and in the U.P. of Michigan for black bear and deer. Love the combo. Also have a Leupold 3.5X10 VariX lll on a 700 SPS Stainless 243. If I had a 700 in 300 Win Mag I would opt for the Leupold VR 4 1n 4.5X14 with the B&C reticle, Probably about $750. I know this does not answer your question and it is currently out of your price range but it gives you something to hope for, and be good WITH PRACTICE out to 500 yds. my $0.02, after elk, mule deer, sheep etc. You could buy a new Leupold Vari X 1 or "Rifleman" 3X9 for under $350. If it were me and was just shooting paper I would opt for a low price scope and start saving for a better if someday you start dreaming about watching the sunrise from above timberline looking for six point bull elk.

    Got to love Leupold!
3x9x50 VarixII I have one on a 7mag. Works great in early morning light or in the evening when light gets low. No fancy bells or whistles just a good all around scope. Little under $400 but worth the few extra bucks.

I figure for the price it will be a good starting point. Its my first scope so it should give me an idea of what I want in a nicer one. Can always upgrade later and throw this on an AR or something.
