Been in development for a loooooooong time, it's nice to see it finally on the battlefield. Sure seems like a step up from the M79, and may someday be able to replace the M203 as was the original plan (when it was part of the OICW), as long as it proves to be durable and reliable. So far, it seems to be a winner.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.
I wish I had Uncle Sam's budget...$700 per round!
Yeah...the price will go down when production is automated...cheaper than an airstrike...yadda yadda yadda.
OTOH - if this works as well as the initial reports indicate, you could potentially see a revolution in small arms not seen since the machine gun appeared on the battlefield.
