For a second there I thought Mossberg had gone all "Gears of War," which would have been more practical than that thing.

Mossberg puts out some crazy stuff these days. Give me my plain-jane 500A Persuader with fixed buttstock any day for HD. This thing would be good for a laugh, if you have the money to waste...

I like it less the ugly handle (which I'm sure is where they get the name)

I held one and it's impractical based upon my style of shooting.
However, it makes a nice carry handle. :o

Looked up on the high shelf the other day at the LGS and saw two of these, both very dusty. Can't imagine at all how this would make any sense this side of a Rambo movie.

Maybe if they don't sell for a year, they drop the price to a ridonkulous price so I can build it up (first change would be the forestock, of course). No idea why I'd need a HD shotgun with a breacher barrel, but who knows?
