Thanks, soonerjh. Where did you find the information? I spent a decent time on the internet looking for it and couldnt seem to come across the information.

Not to sound snippy, but the first place I would have looked is the Springfield Armory website at http://www.springfieldarmory.com.

I am often surprised how much info is left out of specs on pistols. Go to Smith & Wesson and try to find out how wide or tall a firearm is. You can't the Technical Specifications give the barrel length, overall length, and weight empty. To find width and height you will have to find a review where someone measure it. Springfield has the same kind of specs. I don't know why some manufacturers just don't provide the necessary info.

Yep on the Sig website they have the weigh for every pistol except the 239, its weird.
Glock has pretty complete specs on theirs.

Q. What is the size of a XD?
A. Slide width at widest point = 1.090"
Plastic frame width just below slide = 1.190"
grip just above magazine = 1.210"
Widest part of grip (includes the raised thumb "lump" area) = 1.264
Absolute widest point (includes protrusion from slide release) = 1.286"
If comparing to other guns, bear in mind Springfield measures the overall length the way I would (total length from end of barrel to whatever point extends farthest back, be it beavertail, slide, etc.). Some (Glock) measure the total slide length, but neglect to include the portion of the grip that extends even more behind that point.

Q. What is the size difference of a XD verses a Glock? Based on info from Glock and SA's sites, the following are published barrel lengths:
A.
Glock 19: 4.02"
XD9 Service: 4.05"
Glock 17: 4.49"
XD9 Tactical: 5.01"
Glock 34: 5.39"

Q.) XD size compared to a sig?
A.) The XD service is nearly identical in size to the Sig 228/229
B.) Bianchi 19L holster shows the same size for the XD as the Sig 2340 & 2009
