I keep all my spare ammo in a heavy plastic storage bin that looks like an ammo can. Maybe a real ammo can would be better.

Looks like he might get at least partial vision back in time. Let's hope so.

Definitely a freak accident, but a fire at a home of a gun nut who has properly prepared a large stock pile could produce the same result anywhere, assuming the ammo is stored in anything short of rugged ammo cans or a safe. Lets hope he makes a full recovery. I know as a firefighter I'm not walking around with safety glasses at a fire expecting to get "shot" by exploding ammunition.

I can't imagine somebody dumb enough to leave that much ammo in the house, abandon like that.
Hard to imagine these banks not checking their forclosed properties for such liabilities such as this, or worse.
Glad it wasn't worse than it was.

I would say you stand a better chance of being killed by a crashing UFO than to have that happen again

I keep my ammo supply in the gunsafe for this reason, been to a couple fires where ammo was letting go. Eventually will need another safe or something else.
