    Joining the SP101 Club

Well, today is the day. Heading to my local gun shop this afternoon to pick up my new Ruger SP101 2 1/4" in .357 Mag. I think I've spent too much of my life owning things that are "almost as good as the real thing". When I bought my Taurus Model 669, I was told it was "Just as good as the S&W, but much less expensive!" Well, it's time for me to pick up the real thing, not something that's almost like the real thing. From what I've read on the forum here, and after firing an SP101 this past weekend, I could tell it's the real deal. I could barely sleep last night! hehehe

I've owned this exact pistol since the late 1980s (I think) and every time I take it to the range I'm reminded how much I like this gun. I have a lousy holster for it so I don't often carry it, but I ordered a new one from Don Hume a couple of weeks ago. Now hear this!! A 4 month lead-time. Wow. I'm left handed, that probably makes a difference, but 4 months? And they charge your card right away, so I wait. Any ways, congrats on what I think is a great choice. I think you will love your new gun! You'll like the .357 also.

I believe you're right, in fact I already love it. And I've been firing .38/.357 for many years through other revolvers and love it as well. It's nice to have ammo cans filled with 2 kinds of ammo I can fire through 90% of my guns! Makes it very easy to stockpile!

Don Hume has always quoted me fairly ridiculous wait times, only to have the holsters show up in a few weeks. As they say on the internet, however, YMMV.

Congrats. I have the 3" version, but it is a nice little gun-solid, rugged and pretty accurate. I went to a little lighter hammer spring and different grips, but straight out of the box isn't bad. I ended up with a Simply Rugged holster which is a nice piece of leather. For concealed carry, it is a tad heavy and bulky, but no worse than my G30.
Chose a weapon that goes bang EVERY time!

I hope I have the same experience with the wait time as you --- that would be nice, thanks.

    SP101 - Definately a Winner

I have been extremely happy with the (well, my wife's) SP101. Added the CT grip as per her request as well as changing the factory 14# spring to 10# or 12# due to her hand surgery and CTS issues. There is peace on the home front.... When Moma is happy, we are all happy...

    Cool

When I got my SP-101 I wanted a holster ASAP so I could carry it ASAP.

I got a High Noon Mr. Softy IWB for under $40 delivered in 3 days.

Good starter holster and guaranteed you will have several holsters before it's over.

I've had my SP101 for almost a year now.

It finds its way into my rotation more often, every day In fact, I've been carrying it exclusively, for the last 2 weeks.

I also use a Mr. Softy
