Well I just joined the ranks of those that carry and ride motorcycles. So please share some knowledge and wisdom with me. I would like to know your tips, tricks and secrets about carrying and riding.
Mike
I carried a full size 1911 just today. It has been really hot so I wear a Hawaiian shirt. I just sit on the tail of it to keep it from blowing up, no one's the wiser. When the weather is cool I where a vest to cover the holster.
I'm not a fan of off body carry , but there is a company that makes a leather magnetic tank bag that works like a fanny pack:
Goawayfarm
That bag looks like a slick item. Not for my weapon but for some of the other things I will need to carry while on short trips. I will be carrying my Glock 22 in a Broomland IWB holster.

I carry full size also. I usually wear a protective jacket of some kind (unless it's super hot) so I don't have a problem with the shirt blowing up. Even if it does though, KY is an open carry state so at the most I'd maybe get harassed about it, but nothing would happen.
Personally I find it more comfortable to carry on the bike than in a car.
Mike - despite a theoretic injury risk - my carry remains the same - 226 OWB. I do not want the gun off body at all and accept my risk factor.
I cover with my venerable Smith and Alexander Denim vest - which is pretty light and when actually riding keep it buttoned. That plus my backrest ''capturing'' it stops any blowing up to show the rig.
When not riding I unbutton and of course keep it on. In biking mode I feel it attracts minimal attention and actually use it over t-shirt all time in summer when out, even if in truck.
Anyone ever think of using a shoulder holster? I coworker of mine down in Fl. got felony stopped (3 squad cars 1 in front one beind, and one off to the side, just because his jacket flipped up in the wind and someone called 911, no problems after he stopeed, he's was a reserve Deputy, and still had his CCW, however a better method was needed.
I carry a G29 or 30 in a *** bag ...er, fanny pack. I have a pretty big one that also has a cell phone pouch. I can carry my wallet, leatherman, extra magazine, whatever, and my pistol all in one. I also carry my bug in my right front pocket and my folder on my left. Been all over the country (at least the west) that way and I can get to it in a hurry regardless of what I'm wearing.
what a combination. :danceban: :danceban: :danceban:
I have used three methods while enjoying the comforts of my Electra Glide. Most of the time I use a Fist #1A IWB, once in a while I might use my Fist #41 SOB, and sometimes I just use a fanny pack. :hand10:
I don't think I would want to have the weapon 'OFF' my person. :nono:
I usually have a Kimber Ultra for serious riding, or a KelTec .380 for those shorter rides...however, since my new Glock 36 is pretty easy to hide, it might just become part of the daily rides.
1) coronado concealment vest. Like a combo of a shoulder holster and a t-shirt hoster. It works OK, but it is another draw to practice from. I think it minimizes risk during an unintended getoff. However, I like to wear full gear when riding and the vest does not fit into that.
2) pocket carry - snubbie revolver. OK, but I do not like the lack of round capacity.
3) IWB - I like this, but there is an increased risk of injury w/ an unintended getoff.
I choose mostly
(1) option 3
and sometimes
(2) option 1 and 2
1 and 2 when I dismount the bike and option 2 while riding the bike (just put the vest on when I get off the bike).
If you go w/ IWB, a leather holster will be much more comfortable. If you go w/ pocket and vest, you will have to have somewhere to stow the vest (w/ weapon) while riding.
BTW, I am an MSF safety instructor/coach, so if you have any questions, fire away.
On a tangential note, I do like having a coronado vest on while driving. It is so much easier to draw the weapon from the vest than from an IWB belt type holster.
Thanks for the input from all of you. Sojourner thanks for the offer I will keep it in mind.
