    Cool Guns in Space

I read this article today, which speculates about what would happen if you fired a gun in space. Pretty cool science and I'd love to get a look at what the cosmonauts were carrying according to the article.

It seems to imply that I'll need a spaceship that's "faster than a bullet" if I want to get to any galaxies further than 40k lightyears away. Well, luckily companies like the X-Prize are working on stuff like this, so at least I can just cut a check to an organisation if I want to make space-flight more likely.

I seriously doubt I'll ever have to defend myself in space. Therefore, I'll declare.......bogus, and makes no matter. Just like the firearm I would choose for underwater protection. Aint happenin'

Famous last words! It's a good idea to get a good gun for space, because that way when the 'terror' starts, someone can fumble for it before getting smoked from behind by the villain of the story. And then the other people can rely on welders and wrenches.

    Wink

I keep having this dream: I'm on a space ship and an Alien ship has disabled ALL of our Phazers remotely somehow. They hail us and tell us we are about to be boarded. So, we look at each other and shrug.

Then we all pull out our 1911's, Glocks, M&P's, etc. and we're all smiling for some reason....

Anyone else have that dream or is it just me?

I hope Hornady doesn't read this article. Next we will see AlienMax ammo on the market. For those intergalactic gun battles.

Lighten up, this was just for science fun, nothing serious. Anyone who really is planning for an outerspace or underwater battle has some other issues they need to deal with first.
