Truck / Car rifle or shotgun

Just curious how many members here keep a long gun in their truck or car?

I used to keep a Remington 870 in the trunk of my car, but have since upgraded to a trusty 'ol M38 .. 7.62X54R.

It's nice to know I have some distance firepower if ever I need it

I don't keep anything expensive, just a Maverick 88 loaded with Fed Rifled slugs and 00 buck. First two rifled slugs, next two 00 buck and then one rifled and one 00 buck.

In the heat of battle, will you be able to remember what you have loaded? I know I wouldn't.

technically speaking in Michigan you can't keep a loaded long gun in your vehicle, but if I were to have one it would be a 870 with 5 rounds of OO buck on the buttstock ready to load and of course it would be cased to be legal. cause illeagle is a sick bird

The only time I had a long gun in the car was when I was sent to New Orleans after Katrina, I had my M4 and Benelli Nova, in retro spect the M4 was ideal and as far as a shotgun is concearned, how do you pump if you have to fire while driving?

I liked the M4 more due to is shorter length, lighter recoil, and higher capacitcy.

If a shotgun is desired I'd suggest an auto, or if you can find one a lever model for easier cycling on the road.

I have two rifles that are my Jeep companions. One is a cut -down Mauser in 6.5 Swed, the other is a Mauser in 8mm that i converted into a scout. One or the other is usually with me.

    Just Pistols...

but if I needed an extra boost for some reason, I would probable grab my dbl bbl coach gun in 12ga. I had it reworked by Coyote Cap and it's smooth. I can stand with it hanging down and it is way off of the ground...easy to move around with in a vehicle or down a hallway.
A couple of 00buck would keep anyone busy while the pistols came out as a back up!

Mosin-Nagant M44. Magazine (but not chamber, per Oklahoma State Law) loaded. With that ingenious safety on.

And I pity the fool who make me use it.
