    Favorite Caliber?

What is your all around favorite handgun caliber and why? Mine is .40s&w, the reason why is because the bullet size is just right it seems to be in the middle of the 9mm and 45, the magazine capacity is good, the ammo isn't that bad for cost and in my opinion the recoil is manageable. Ok who's next?

I gotta say, I love shooting 9mm. I could do it all day long because of the light recoil, and price. But for EDC, I usually take a .45 with me for the greater stopping power.

My favorite caliber is 9mm. It is a potent round and I am more accurate with 9mm than I am with 45ACP or 380ACP, my other two SD pistol calibers. It's the cheapest so I can practice with it the most. That practice adds up to better accuracy which would hopefully trump a larger caliber I can't afford to shoot enough and thus be less proficient with. Half of my guns are 9mm so it is easiest to stockpile. It will be the most plentiful round in most shortage situations.

I don't know if its the best round around, but it's what works for me.

9mm. Adequate SD caliber, minimal recoil, affordable to practice with, plenty of pistol options.

.40 and .45 Sometimes you just can't pick one.

If I had to choose just one, I'd go with .357Mag, because of the ability to fire .38sp as well. Saves a few pennies at the range, and still powerful for EDC.

.45 ACP. I'm much more accurate with .45 than with any other caliber, except possibly .22, and I don't feel any recoil. I hate .40 with a passion. Unfortunately, where I live, it's all 9mm and even that ammo is extremely expensive.

Given that the handgun calibers are sub-par to my favorite, I'd say that I like .45 ACP the best, in that category.

9mm is a close second. I would love to brag and say that I'm good with 10mm, but I honestly can't hit squat with it and it's too expensive for me to spend the time to get good with it. I never had a reason to mess with .40.

When I fully retire and concealment is less of an issue, I suspect that I'll carry revolvers more often, and my favorite handgun caliber just might change.
