Was curious about this as something else directed me there recently. Big issue I see is that they:
1) Want you to use your real, full name
2) Express your involvement with firearms
3) List your hometown
To test this, with this information and a short google, I was easily able to track down a number of members on there who seem to have a nice collection of gear which an unscrupulous person might choose to, I dunno...watch the house for a while until it was empty and pay it a little visit....use all the facebook and linkedin profiles also associated with the names/locations to see when they'll be on vacation or such...
Does this seem like a BAD idea to anyone else? Sort of reminds me of when newspapers try to print the names and addresses of all the CCW holders in their town.

I'll take a look at the site later but if cj is correct about the registration, I think I'll pass. Already too much information about me available on the interwebs.

Way too much information out there about us period. Ham radio operators are probably the most in danger. All you need is their callsign - enter it in Google and eventually not only will you get their address but also their latitude and longitude and even more likely every post they have ever made, list of radio equipment they own and probably a list of firearms. The FCC licensee database is for all to see. Of course with GPS that entitles you to turn by turn directions right to their house.

I don't mind some information out there, but information that directly ties you to your hometown, in a context where people are freely discussing that they own nice, expensive, valuable firearms? Ham operators, ok, their stuff may be valuable, but there's a relatively small pool who will know how they can quickly turn it into cash. Imagine giving thugs a list of great places to pick up firearms though.
