Is it normal to have wear (smilie marks) on the barrel of a brand new unfired sig? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1335048117.467646.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1335048149.947101.jpg

Anyone else have any experience with sig barrels looking like this?

Does it have any other signs of being fired?
I bought a used P220 Carry that had less wear than that.
But I polished the barrel and guide rod....

It was on the shelf. I have put 50 rounds through it, but the wear was there before I shot it. The date on the box is Nov. 2011 and I bought it in feb. of the year.

Brand new? I'll almost guarantee it's been fired. I've put around 3k rounds through my P220 and it looks like that now. Hard to say, but SIGs are known for lower tolerances and higher rated recoil springs compared to others. If it's a stainless slide I might see consistent dry cycling over a year's period creating the marks. You'll be able to tell by looking in the barrel for sure.
Well I know it was fired at the factory, but would that wear be from that?

rack it a few times and you have some marks
get a bored sales dude who plays with it for 20 minutes....
i watched one wrist snap-close a new S&W revolver for 10 minutes while we chatted.
i than told him i was interested in that gun but to get another
he asked me why?? gotta wonder about some people...
as i've noticed about others--that they do not always do as i think they will nor often as they say they will.
this not only makes life interesting, it makes it dangerous too.
For Sale 1985 Toyota Supra. one owner, 82K, will pass inspection, only needs some body/rust patching
Yea it's really no big deal just curious if anyone else has seen wear like that on couple of months old sig.

there shouldn't be that kind of wear on a new gun, almost looks like somebody bought it,shot it for awhile, then took it back and traded it in,or the store has an employee that " borrows" guns to shoot, then puts them back and sells them as "New"
