Fun idea, but I can't see it being practical - even for giggles.

* Barrel too hot to hold
* Record-setting short sight radius (for a carbine)
* It's gonna stress a 1911 in ways it was never designed for. Maybe use it on a beater and be prepared for it to fly apart.

Although, I see it as a good sign when you see crazy innovations like this come up. It suggests an in increase in demand for 'all things firearms'.

Well, I'll bet it's pretty accurate. Figure you might want a high quality match grade barrel bushing and link to go along with that. I'm already thinking of ideas about a forward pistol grip for that bad boy. Thing is I figure that will be more expensive than the barrel.

No different than pulling a S&W 500; only in a more manageable caliber.

I figure one of those barrels, one of those silicone 'baking gloves' ( ) , a 10-15rnd mag, heavy recoil spring, add a 'light' scope and it's party time.
