Thinking ahead .... granddaughter wants for her 21st birthday
My granddaughter is 15, nearly 16. She's been shooting with me for 6-7 years. She is still sticking with what she told me a year ago, as to what she wants for her 21st birthday .... I never asked, this is something she brought it up and keeps repeating it to me regularly.....
1. A conceal carry permit.
2. Me to buy her the one handgun she likes the best; a Kimber 1911.
I don't think she's going to change her mind, when she sets her mind to something this solid, it doesn't seem to change.

I'm not sure who's gonna come out better on that deal.
You have plenty of time to save up (and work on getting you ego in check).

she's got good taste already. Definitely start saving. Wouldn't hurt to ask one more time shortly before her 21st, just in case she changes her mind before then.
I applaud you, though, for taking an active part in her upbringing. I'm sure she'll continue to make you proud.

Yea, Us Grandparents are heros alright. After raising 4 daughters, I now have 2 Grandaughters and 1 Grandson. You are very lucky. I still hear daddy I need help with Cell Phone,Ins,Gas,Books, ect!!!! Grandchildren are still a little young, but a 1911 is still cheaper then a car!!!!
PS: WOULD NOT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY, GLAD I AM ABLE TO HELP!

Buy her a G19 and send her to a good two day Defensive Pistol course...She'll change her mind on the Kimber..
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Oh, I have taken her to 8 gun shows.... and literally showed her about every other gun in existence..... she doesn't budge on the 1911 Kimber. It hasn't mattered what else she has shot, she loves the 1911, how it functions, shoots, feels, etc. .... and she wants the Kimber. She had no idea on the price..... but I can't put a price on a gun if she likes it, shoots it well, and will carry it to protect herself.
