    Cor-Bon Pow'R Ball for 1911????

I just read a thread about the best .45 defensive rounds - and like all discussions surrounding ammo there are a lot of good opinions. I have a particular problem and question. My 1911 does not like JHP at all, no matter the mag or ammo. It is a Llama IX-A from the early 90's. It feeds FMJ with no issues, but still hits them hard on the feed (already throated and polished feed). Has anyone used the Cor-Bon Pow'R Ball ammo for a 1911?

Answering your question, yes, and they feed just fine in my 3 1911s which also feed HPs just fine - so that's an incomplete answer to your question.

Have you tried different magazines, such as a Wilson 47D? Bum magazines (like the $7 ones you see at gun shows) are the bane of 1911s. The interaction between the slide stop and the magazine is also important, if not critical. A good 1911 specialist should be able to make your Spaniard sit up and fly right just like a Colt.

In the meantime, here's some good reading material for you:

one of my SD guns doesn't like JHP's either, especially Federal 230 grain HydraShok. until i get around to polishing the feedramp, it will be fed Pow'RBall. imo, the most likely to feed SD ammo that i know of at the moment. i may try Hornady Critical Defense, also. i just bought four boxes of the stuff.

Some 1911's are notorious for being ammo finicky at times. As "gassmitty" stated, could be a magazine issue. I have switched to McCormack mags years ago and I have no issues with either of my 1911's feeding hollowpoints, and one is a 1950's Colt Commander. Good luck.
