If you could only keep one handgun..
I have been trying to think of what handgun I would keep if I could only keep one. So far I cannot think of one. All I know is I would prefer it to be metal. 1911, P226, CZ75 come to mind. As well as a GP100 or something of that nature.
My criteria has not included CCW. Mainly Home Defense, hiking, SHTF, and anything other crazy scenario I can think up. Something that would be a go to weapon for a long time. Also, it has not been limited to those I presently own.
Since I have no idea I figured I would throw it out there to all of you on here. Been thinking about it since it will influence my next buy. My present situation only allows a couple firearms around the house, so I am limited to a long gun and a handgun.
So what would be the one gun you would keep around if you could only keep one?

I m the other 40%. I would keep my FN Tactical 45 if a pistol. I have one of those scary AR things so that is a strong contender as well. Let's just hope it never comes to that as I just could not make such a decision in the end. It would be like asking do you want to give up this son or that one. That is not a choice!! I must keep them all!!!!
I plan to vote and voice a strong 2nd amendment advocacy just to be sure.
It's not a problem til they make it one!

If based on what I have - then it would be my M&P40c. If based on anything we could choose, I would probably go with an SR1911 or a Sig P226.
Ruger SR1911 in Remora OR M&P40c w/Apex DCAEK in Sticky Holster
And Firestorm .38sp Snubby as backup.

If I have an unlimited supply of ammo, then a Sig P220. If not a 9mm, probably a Sig P226.
I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.

G19, with a S&W Model 10 4"bbl as a fairly distant second.
Yes, it's boring and hum drum and everyone has one... But it does everything you can ask of a handgun reasonably well, and many things exceptionally well. Plus, there are gazillions of mags, parts, and accessories out there, it comes in the single most common centerfire pistol cartridge in the US, and it will out last (and keep working) all of us and our grandchildren.
I guess I'm boring and hum drum, but I'm taking the G19. Sorry, P228, you know I love you!
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

The guy I sold it to still owes me the last $100. Perhaps I should request it back.

Ruger Blackhawk 357 Convertible model. Comes with an extra cylinder for the 9mm. I'd get the 4 5/8 inch barrel.
One gun that fires the 357/38 and 9mm is the one to have, hands down.
Or, in a long gun it would be a Remington Nylon 66, 22lr.
Ignorance is a long way from stupid, but left unchecked, can get there real fast.

Stainless 4" Ruger GP 100 .357 mag.
That was easy.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

I dont own one yet but a full size HK USP .40. I havnt tried the .45 yet so I can only speak for the forementioned. As far as Im concerned it is my "Elanore" of handguns. It is perhaps the only gun of every semi-auto range rental that hasnt failed me once. Yes that includes Glocks and 1911s both of which I also like.
I am still working on my trigger control, most of my groupings are low and left regardless of the gun. But the USP I can put lead center mass and leave one large hole in the paper at the end of the day.
Unfortunatley, the USP did eventualy fail (not by my hand) and has been out of comission for some time now. If I wasnt investing in an AR, Elanore would be next on my list.

Thankfully, I don't have to cut it that thin.

It's not even my very favorite handgun kept here but I'd think long and hard about keeping this 6-inch Smith & Wesson Model 27 .357 Magnum. I'd rather keep my sentimental favorite Smith & Wesson Model 10 Heavy Barrel.
